Colligationism refers to the philosophy, study and related practices of colligion. It is under the term colligationism that one must look for the instructional set for colligion. The methods inherent to colligion, then, will be defined and refined by colligationism. Colligion remains the result, colligationism the method and study of colligion's body of factual knowledge.

From the Secular Philosophical Glossary:

COLLIGATE: To assemble isolated facts under one unifying explanation or hypothesis that includes them all. To assemble such facts in a recognizable pattern that enables development of a principle regarding them.

COLLIGATION: The process of colligating; the gathering of facts to explain something or the creation of hypotheses regarding scattered facts. Colligation applies to the normal human tendency to try to make factual sense out of apparent disorder by developing working principles regarding it.

COLLIGATIONISM: The philosophy that describes human applications of colligation and colligion; the study and development of that.

COLLIGATIONIST: One whose studious approach to life is that of factual colligation and related principles.

"To deny a right to the experience of pleasure is immoral unless that denial can be justified by a valid presentation of how pain will result from that experience in an amount that would render the expected pleasure regrettable; or, if it can be shown that pain will be induced in others innocent of any involvement. The role of science in moral issues should be to test that, predict that, and find harmless ways to demonstrate that."
