Satanism
Atheists as Devil Worshippers?

The most correct approach taken by atheists regarding Satanism is to acknowledge it as a part of Xianity and other Arabic religions, and to regard Satanists as "backward Xians", or "Xians in reverse." Strange to say, anyone attempting to investigate the difference will discover Satanists preaching the love gospel, and the Xians preaching dominance and war. Not much discussion of this has taken place on any of the discussion groups I have affiliated with, mainly (I think) because Xians and atheists alike suspect the connection. Xians don't want to acknowledge it, and the atheists think it too obvious to even mention, and wonder aloud how people without belief in gods can be accused of believing in Satan. How is that justifiable?

Wiser atheists will accredit both ends of the Xian polarity as figments of the imagination and let it go at that, but for the constantly pointing accusatory theistic fingers demanding our attention. We answer not for the benefit of our detractors, whose made-up minds, encased as they are in rock hard concrete and impervious to the penetration of truth, can never be corrected. We answer for the practice of it, and to show any onlookers another side of the story exists, and that the haughty finger wavers are pointing away from themselves in their accusations so that their own guilt may go unnoticed in the seething frenzy of their vendettas.

We believe in neither the god named God nor the god named Satan. The erroneous claim that atheists deny God errs further in statements associating us with Satan (or any other various transmogrifications of "The Devil") by attempting to make us into Xians so that we can be condemned according to their creeds; elsewise, they are forced to acknowledge we have nothing to do with any of their trappings and actually mean it when we say we mainly want only to be left alone.

One writer claimed that "knowing God is the sole purpose for us being here. You'd be hard pressed to think of a better one." That may be fine, if theists can ever show anyone who has accomplished that. It may be a reasonable claim for someone whose entire take on existence has been the result of indoctrination, and requires the denial of reality as a major part of it. Most atheists display an absence of concern with any "purpose for us being here", since it is not obvious who or what could have set that purpose, and deem it something for each person to determine for themselves.

Knowing God must require the knowing of Satan, too, but that demon seems to have as mysteriously disappeared from accessibility as has the demon proposed to us under the name "God". When neither have ever been available for direct interactive contact, how does one know to tell one from the other? How does an outsider, an atheist, who sees only those representing themselves as messengers, know for which demon any one of them is speaking? All we can do is look at what has been written in history, see the grand numbers of gods that have been deposed, their roles usurped by newer reifications, look at the claims made about the newer gods, and assess from what they have led their followers into doing which role their gods may be playing.

The Xian god, the god named Allah, and the Jewish Yahweh all look suspiciously like representatives of evil to us, and dangerous, and very like the way Satan gets constantly described to us. That is, however, beside the point. Atheists hold no beliefs supporting any of these concepts. We mainly know we do not want to be like the Xians we deal with because we do not regard their obfuscative mentality as anything we could respect.

Joey summed it quite nicely in a message he posted in a Yahoo discussion group:

"Atheists do not claim, for the most part, that there is no god.  Theists have the belief that there is a god, or gods depending on, of course, their particular religion.  Atheists do not have that belief.  Either one has a belief, or one does not.

"The minimum requirement for atheism is to not have a belief in god. "God" cannot even be defined. Every objective characteristic used to describe god, offered by theists, it is interesting to note, also precisely describes "nothing".  For example, some theists assert that "God is without limits."  Well, so is "nothing."  Every something has limits and these limits we can identify and use to describe that "something."  God has NO referent in actuality.  If I describe to you an automobile, you can readily find a referent in actuality, a real car to compare my description to and then decide if indeed what I have described is actual or not.

"Every individual ever born, was born without beliefs.  Ergo, everyone has been, is, and always will be born an atheist.  This is 'implicit" atheism.  As we grow older we are exposed to religious views, theistic teachings.

"Those that reject these teachings become 'explicit" atheists.  I am, for example, an explicit atheist.  I have always rejected the religious instruction my parents and society have tried to impart to me.  I decided to remain an atheist.  Too be sure, some atheists do go further.  Some atheists state that there is no god.  This makes little sense to me, because how can one assert that a thing exists or does not exist when it has not been defined in actuality.  I readily admit that 'god' is real to many theists, but he is not actual.  He is real in their minds.  This is the scary part of religion.  Because [if] god exists in the minds of these theists, and only in their minds, they are of necessity delusional.

"Fortunately for most, and for what ever the reason, the delusion is mild, and does not interfere with the their lives or with the lives of those they interact with. Unfortunately, however, this disillusionment increases as individuals attain increasing stages of fundamentalism.  We all know, from history what happens when this occurs, genocide, witch-burnings, the inquisition, torture, murder, rape and slavery.

"The 'theism' in the word atheism means literally 'god belief.'  The 'A' in atheism is from the Greek and it means literally 'without' or 'absent of.'  An atheist is quite simply, one for whom belief in gods remains absent.  As an atheist, I too, have no belief in devils, witches, ogres, nor do I believe in unicorns, fairies, ghosts, Fred Flintstone nor Betty Rubble.

"[Theistical] people are to be pitied but they are to be feared as well.  Those who would censor, would enslave.  Those who burn books will eventually burn people. Christianity has achieved much power over the masses historically by instilling fear, guilt and shame.  These are the true tools of Christianity.  Christianity, especially it's Catholic manifestation, is a pervert factory.  It pretty much guarantees to churn out, predictably and regularly, people who are twisted, perverted with guilt, with fear and with shame.

"The human body and human sexuality is NOT obscene, nor is it pornographic.  Violence is obscene, violence is pornographic.  Christianity is anti-sex, anti-woman, anti-earth, anti-life, anti-truth, anti-good.  What I have gathered … is that beyond making good decisions about one's health and relationships, beyond educating one's self with the facts about our bodies, about our health so that we can make correct decisions, … celebrate sex[uality], celebrate life.  I too believe in life before death!  The current sexual norm in western civilization is the product of 2 thousand years of Christian repression.  It begs to be challenged.  [end of excerpt].

by Joey D. Smith"

A correct portrayal of atheists relative to superstitious belief emphasizes belief as absent. The word "lacking" implies a need not met, something most atheists do not feel and self-lost theists cannot understand. We are often accused of 'dis'belief by those who want to associate atheists with Satanism in order to make it appear that we have avoided steering a right course by refusing to take theists at their word for anything in their multifarious creeds. To 'disbelieve' requires a denial of evidence that is incorrect because none that meets the Principles of Atheology has ever been presented to us, and because we have been shown no evidence.

*Dis*belief puts atheism into a ballpark where a kind of intelligence and knowledge that would encompass the universe is required. That is impossible for any kind of human (to my knowledge). As a part of the Arabic religions, Satanism has nothing at all to do with atheism, and only those intending to slander others would make such an accusation. Satanism belongs mainly to the Xians and there counterparts elsewhere.

"To deny a right to the experience of pleasure is immoral unless that denial can be justified by a valid presentation of how pain will result from that experience in an amount that would render the expected pleasure regrettable; or, if it can be shown that pain will be induced in others innocent of any involvement. The role of science in moral issues should be to test that, predict that, and find harmless ways to demonstrate that."
