This, and the freedom to express
our views, remain the most important of our freedoms. We take them for
granted right up to the moment when somebody says, "Shut-up!" or "Your kind
can't do that."
Freedom of Aspirations is one of
our most highly touted and valuable freedoms, and yet the very most tender
to protect. This freedom implies the freedom to think our own thoughts, and
to develop our own conceptions. Most of us lose that freedom at a very young
age and never realize it, and so we stay unaware of all the hazards nibbling
great chunks of it from our lives, and never stand a chance of protecting
ourselves from the greatest possible of losses.
Lack of this freedom–or the sense
of the hope it offers—within ourselves induces the apathy so apparent in our
midst. You might question that statement. Please be aware that likely only
indicates you are a victim of it.
A test: Write down how many
things you are not allowed to do or say (no matter the reasons), how many
things you don't allow yourself to do or say (still, no matter the reasons),
and how many things you won't want your friends and neighbors to catch you
doing or saying (no matter the reasons). Those are the freedoms not
available to you, and the reasons are the way that loss gets justified, no
matter their validity.
The personal responsibility
required to apply the particular freedoms involved in aspirations is often
abdicated in favor of promises made to us by others for care and security
that will be given us. Under other circumstances, such pledges would be
considered hoaxes and those who make them as swindlers, but special
circumstances act in this instance to prevent this kind of occurrence.
This renders the study and grasp
of Memetics to be of particular importance to the ambitious individual
seeking to make the best possible use of his life.
One's own attitude has been shown by many different kinds of studies to be
the key determinant of personal success, by whatever definition you might
recognize that term. The actual meaning of success refers to one's ability
to accomplish whatever he or she sets out to do or become.
The amount of real success is
measured not with money values, but by counting all the little steps taken
in advancement on a chosen path. Money values count only where they are an
acknowledgeable feature of those steps. Money values are often counted and
given preeminence by those very same people who know their own success
requires that they lure us away from our own chosen paths through life. |

The drums of war beat
loudly and forever, even for those who must fight emptyhanded, and for whom
the soul in a bottle must dare to save the day. |
Here's an insightful and entertaining
book you should read, that has been praised by those who have.
Set in western New York
State and Pennsylvania's beautiful Allegheny River valley, it tells the
story of how two men discovered the foundations of honest dealings by
floundering their way through life until they lost all their possessions and
had to face reality. Rod lost his wife, job and home because he dared not to
tell the truth. John lost his young sweetheart because her father scared
him, and won her back only by facing down his fears. Read it; you'll be back
for another one of my stories. |

Lost in time, our hero
journeys from ancient Poseidon into the distant future to find his way back
to the love whose trick had banished him. |

No subject is safe or sacred, or too hot

to handle. Love, life, death, deity or
profane, Lloyd tells it all in one thick book.
 |
Gran'Pa gives his opinion about women,
work and men with inadequate tools.

Where material reality leaves off, memes
take over. How they work for us and against us; what they do for us and to
us. |
